My Little Pony: Friends Forever, Vol. 3 by Christina Rice (Goodreads Author) (Writer), Ted Anderson (Writer), Barbara Randall Kesel (Writer), Tony Fleecs (Artist), Agnes Garbowska (Artist), Jay Fosgitt (Artist), Brenda Hickey (Artist), Amy Mebberson (Cover Artist)

Our family loves My Little Pony Friends Forever and Friendship is Magic! It is a wonderfully done show and comic series that is a joy to watch and read. I jumped at the chance to review Friends Forever Vol. 3 through NetGalley. I read it with our family's resident Brony, my youngest son. Here is the cover and the Goodreads blurb:

Four tales of friendship and fun! Contains stories involving Granny and the Flim Flam brothers, Fluttershy and Iron Will, Rainbow Dash and Wonderbolt Spitfire, and Pinkie Pie! Collects issues #9–12.

This trade paperback covers the stories from the Friends Forever issues 9 through 12. The first story was that of Granny Smith and the Apple family going to an Apple Convention where Granny runs into the Flim Flam Brothers and takes it upon herself to try to heal the rift that has formed between the brothers after they had both pursued the same filly. Granny Smith is adorable and hilarious. She always makes me laugh! Ian, our family's most serious Pony Fan, loved that you could find all kinds of ponies from Ponyville and other stories in the backgrounds of the comic pages at the convention. It was like Where's Waldo for him and I think it is a testament to how much attention to detail is paid to the backgrounds and settings. We also read about Spitfire from the Wonderbolts teaching little colts and fillies to fly. She learns that she needs to have patience and be humble as she teaches. She also learns that the gratitude of her students in the greatest reward. We met Iron Will, the minotaur who just wants to be accepted by the ponies. Fluttershy helps him find his place in Ponyville and she teaches the others that someone can still be a friend even if they are not the same as us. I highly recommend the My Little Pony comics and cartoon to all parents. Boys and girls can both enjoy the show and can be accepted by the MLP fandom.

You can click here to find My Little Pony: Friends Forever Volume 3 on Goodreads. You can also click here to find out more about IDW's My Little Pony Comics. My Little Pony Friendship is Magic can be found on Discovery Family (Formerly The Hub). I give this trade paperback 5 Fairies for an excellent book for families to share!

My Little Pony: Pony Tales, Vol. 1 (My Little Pony - Micro Series) Paperback by Thom Zahler, Amy Mebberson, Tony Fleecs, Andy Price, Ben Bates

My son came late to the Micro series so we only have two of the individual issues: Applejack and The Cutie Mark Crusaders.  We really need to go back and order the back issues we missed.  This micro series focuses on each of the main characters individually.  Here is the cover and Goodreads blurb:
Six spotlights focusing on everyone's favorite Ponies! Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack each get a whole issue devoted to them.
There are seven issues compiled into this book.  Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Applejack and the Cutie Mark Crusaders each have an issue.  The stories are little outtakes that don't really flow together as a greater story line but they are meant to bring the reader to a deeper understanding of each of the characters.  My son liked the Rainbow Dash story the best (no surprise, she is his favorite).  The Cutie Mark Crusaders story was adorable!  Their faces are so expressive and you can really see the differences in personality between the three friends.  Applejack's story is so sweet and country- just like Applejack herself.  Fluttershy's story is super cute, Pinkie Pie's is super fun, Twilight's is about books and Rarity's is about stepping out of her comfort zone.  All in all, this Micro Series is awesome.

Pony Tales will be published on November fifth so you have plenty of time to get your pre-orders in or catch up with the individual issues.  You can click here to add this collected edition of the mini series to your Goodreads.  The collected edition can be pre-ordered on Amazon.  You can find each of the individual books on My Comic Shop in print and on Comixology in Digital format.  I give Pony Tales 5 Fairies for a great look at each of the main characters in depth that just adds to the fun of this comic series!
