Sentinel by Jennifer L. Armentrout Tour: Pure Day!

It is nearly time for all godly things to come to an end with the final book in the Covenant series, Sentinel, but while we wait we're recapping all of the amazing books of the series!  Today I am spotlighting Pure, my favorite of the books because of all the Seth.  Yes, I am on the much less popular (but still awesome) Team Seth.  Aidan just drives me nuts... and not in a good way.  So, let's look back at Pure.

There is need. And then there is Fate.
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her. When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon--and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude--or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone

Here is a mini interview with Jennifer and the characters from Pure:

For JLA – Pure has been called Seth’s book. Did fans reaction to Seth surprise you? I wasn’t really surprised by the reaction to Pure because I knew that the book focused more on Seth than Aiden.

For Alex - Knowing what you know about Leon, do you think there was more to him being the one to find you in labyrinth? Oh, I’m sure there was more to it.

For Aiden - By far, the zoo was the best scene in Pure. What did you enjoy most about being at the zoo with Alex? I loved knowing that I was doing something for her that made her happy.

For Seth – That whole sleeping issue that you and Alex have in Pure, did you realize what was up or were you just going with it? I would’ve just gone with it. But, truth? I knew what was up.

Here's my review for Pure from the tour in March of 2012:

If you've checked out my list of Book Boyfriends (which is impossible to keep up with and far longer than it looks), you know that I am Team Seth from here to forever. I don't know what it is about Aiden but he rubs me the wrong way. There is just something about him that I can't get behind. And yes, I know that Seth is kind of a jerk but he's a hot jerk who can be really sweet when he wants to be. I'll warn you now that I am going to try my best to keep this spoiler free but some tiny ones might slip. I apologize for that in advance. It's hard to hold everything back with a review for a book that you absolutely love. I really enjoyed getting to see Alex spending more time with Seth. Alex also gets to really see what her future could be and what opportunities she actually has. I think she is operating under some very wrong assumptions. She doesn't have all the freedom that she thinks she does and I really think that she needs to deal with that. Yeah, it would be awesome if their society functioned differently but short of a revolution, I don't see it happening. And in the event that Alex does decide to fight for her freedom, she needs to do it for the right reasons and I just don't think Aiden is worth the trouble. Seeing the world outside of the school is a real eye opener. The reader really gets a better understanding of how the society works and how Pures and Half-bloods are treated differently. I think it's a society that (thankfully) few of us reading the books will fully understand. The life of a Half-blood feels a lot like slavery. You're told that you are different and just, less than other people. You can't love people who are different and if you try, you'll pay dearly for thinking that you could defy the laws. It's a really tough pill for Alex to swallow because, I think, she feels like most of us do: that all people are created equal. That is not the reality for Alex though. Not even Seth, as powerful as he is, is exempt from all of the rules. Even he knows where the line is drawn. Pure is a book with lots of action and drama. Alex puts herself in more than one situation that she might not come back from. The ending will have you begging for the next book, Diety!

I gave Pure 5 Fairies for "a profusion of Seth, action, adventure and of course, SETH!"
I also put of reading Diety for a long time after I got the ARC because I was afraid of what it would do to Seth after hearing from others who were reading it. True story.

Blog Tour: Half-Blood by Jennifer Armentrout

Hi everyone and welcome to the last day of the Half-Blood blog tour!!  Today I have a guest post from Jennifer on how to know that a Daimon is after you. Enjoy!

5 Ways you know a daimon is after you

1.There is an extraordinarily good-looking man or woman dressed exceptionally well. So much so that you think you’ve stumbled upon a model runway show. Heck, most models probably are daimons. Just stay away from them

2.There is a bunch of people dressed all in black shadowing the extraordinarily good-looking male or female. And those people look kind of scary. Scary as in you’re pretty sure their packing some sort of weapon.

3.The really hot guy or girl sniffs you to see you if you have any aether in you. Actually, if anyone, mortal or not, sniffs you, run away. Fast.

4.You’re pretty sure you saw the person light a cigarette without any lighter. Or they moved something without touching. You’re eyes aren’t betraying you. They’re daimons.

5.They are chasing you. Daimons like to mess with mortals out boredom. If a really hot dude is chasing you, it’s probably because he likes the sound of your scream. Don’t bother running at this point. They will catch you anyway.

Thanks for the fun and informative post, Jennifer!! I have to say my three favorite things about Half-Blood are:

  1. SETH- I know most people are all about the other guy but I just don't like him.  I can't really put my finger on why but Seth just grabbed me for some reason while that Other Guy (I think his name is Aidan or something.... ) he just annoys me.  You will find Seth on my Book Boyfriends page.  I look forward to MORE SETH in Pure!
  2. The COVER- I LOVE this cover.  Really.  A lot.  I love purple and the cover is just beautiful, it almost makes me cry to put it on my bookshelf where people can't fully appreciate it.
  3. Alex's Friends-  They are all really interesting characters whose relationships with Alex change over the course of the book.  I love a good supporting character because it's like the Beatles always said: We get by with a little help from our friends.  No matter how kick butt we are-we all need friends.

Half-Blood (Covenant #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Tomorrow Amethyst Daydreams is a stop on the Half-Blood by Jennifer Armentrout blog tour.  I hope you'll stop back tomorrow for Jennifer's guest post but today I have my review of Half-Blood, one of this year's YA Debut releases.  Here is the Goodreads blurb:

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures.Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden.Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.
I really enjoyed this book.  I didn't love it to bits but I think that is because I don't really care for the leading man.  A good leading man can sell just about anything- just look at the Old Spice commercials.  Don't get me wrong, TONS of girls love Aidan St. Delphi.  I just don't dig him.  I can't even put my figure on why I don't love him to bits.  It's strange.  However, I do absolutely LOVE Seth.  Seth is totally my guy.  He's bad ass and tough but he also has these little moments where you almost think that he might have a heart.  I love it.  He's a super cool character.  He's my favorite character in the book.  Really, I think everyone should read this book and see how they like it.  I honestly think my love for Seth kinda messes with my love for the book.  I'm really very excited for the next book, Pure, which I hope will have more Seth in it!  Yay for Team Seth!  I also really enjoyed Alex's friends, they are an interesting cast of characters.  The cover of this book is just gorgeous.  Even with my dislike of Aidan, there are SO many reasons why this book is a must read.  The premise is new and different and interesting- it is like nothing you have read before.  This book is relatively clean and the violence is not terribly graphic.  I would say it is suitable for readers 14 and older.

You can find out more about Jennifer Armentrout and her books on her blog, Facebook or Twitter.  Half_Blood will be released on October 18th and it's sequel Pure will be out next fall.  You can find all of Jennifer's works on Goodreads.  Remember to check out the Half-Blood Blog Tour!!

Half Blood earns 3 Fairies from me due to Alex and I being incompatible and the serious need for MORE SETH!
