No Mercy by Sherrilyn Kenyon

First book of the New Year, everyone!! I just read No Mercy by Sherrilyn Kenyon, one of the books of her Dark-Hunters Series. It read pretty fast-I finished it in around 24 hours- not reading straight through. One MAJOR plus to this series, in my opinion, is that you can read the books in any order and not be so completely lost that you tear your hair out. They are actually written to be read as you come to the series. Which is really nice, given how large the series is. This is the second book in the series that I have read and I have to say I loved it. The story focuses on Dev Peltier (who is a Were-Hunter and can become a bear) and Sam (a Dark-Hunter with crazy powers) and the completely insane world they live in. I love how thick and rich the Dark-Hunterverse is. There are more than 6 dimensions, alternate planes of reality, Gods and Goddesses from just about every major culture through history, and all manner of creatures inhabiting our world. The basic gist of the story is that Dev is haunted by guilt and so is Sam but together, they find hope in the darkness of guilt and with hope they find happiness. Dev and Sam fall for one another after she comes to his family's bar because "she has a feeling that something bad is headed this way." Then she finds that for some reason he negates her powers so that she doesn't see all the pasts associated with the objects he comes in contact with. Which is super important because it probably stinks to hear the cheese you are eating moo in your mind while you eat it. However, because of her ability to "see" the bad guys (Stryker and his Daimons) want to take her and have her tell them how to kill Apollo and break their curse. Dev goes on a quest to find the Amazon relic that will protect her from the menace trying to capture her and they get their happy ending. All around- a pretty fun and exciting story. I highly recommend this book so check it out and give it a try! You can find the Goodreads synopsis here and you can find out more about Sherrilyn Kenyon on her website or on twitter!

No Mercy earns 4 Fairies due to kick- assery and were-hunter awesomeness.
