The Reckless Bride by Stephanie Laurens

The Reckless Bride is the fourth book in the Black Cobra Quartet by Stephanie Laurens.  Stephanie Laurens is the author of the Cynster novels, the Bastion Club novels, Adair's Casebook and now, the Black Cobra Quartet Novels.  The Reckless Bride is the last of the novels but it can stand alone, as well.  Stephanie Laurens books tend to have character cross over from the other novel series and this book does see it's fair share of Bastion Club members and Cynsters.  The Black Cobra Quartet follows four soldiers as they race across the Continent, trying to ferry an incriminating letter to the one man in England who can bring down the Black Cobra.  Three of the men are carrying decoy letters and the fourth is carrying the real letter.

Rafe Carstairs is on his way to England with the real letter when he finds two English ladies in need of his help.  He grudgingly complies, knowing that he can not afford the distraction that Miss Loretta Michelmarsh will definitely be.  Rafe protects the ladies as they travel and uncovers a sinister plot to dispose of Lady Esme along the way.  Loretta, meanwhile, drops the prim and proper pretense that she has hidden behind for years so that she may learn what it is she expects from marriage and if Rafe might be the man destined for her.

I loved this book as a light and fun read after some pretty serious and heavy reading in the past week.  The book was pretty well paced and easy to get into.  The plot was not transparent, there were a few good twists and turns along the way.  An all around wonderful read and I would recommend Stephanie Laurens' books to anyone who likes a good Historical Romance with a plot.  You can learn more about Stephanie and her books on her website or on Goodreads!

Reckless Bride earns 5 Fairies for another great Stephanie Laurens book!
