Desires of the Dead (Body Finder Book 2) by Kimberly Derting

Desires of the Dead is the second book in the Body Finder series.  Jay and Violet are back but things between them are anything but easy as their relationship is tested.  Two new students come to town, a rare and exciting event, and the boy becomes Jay's new best friend.  When Jay begins spending lots of time with Mike, Violet ends up with a lot of time on her hands.  Violet begins to suspect that Mike may have something to do with a death echo that she sees near his house.  Is there something sinister going on?  Who is fixated on Violet and trying to scare her?  And seriously, why won't this woman who claims to work for the FBI leave her alone?!  Life is never easy for Violet and when you try to solve an old mystery, the answer is never straight forward.

I really liked this one!  I love that Desires of the Dead and The Body Finder read like YA crime/mystery novels.  There is romance and the paranormal but they have a great crime show feel to them that I just love.  You don't see much of that in YA.  To me, these books feel a little like the Anita Blake books in that it's paranormal crime fighting.  I also love how there are so many little side plots going on all at once, because it's so true to real life.  Life is never straightforward, there are always multiple things going on at once.  The plot wasn't at all cut and dried either. I was on the edge of my seat to the end.

I suggest this one for readers over 16 due to talk of creepy stalking, violence, death and some sexual shenanigans.  According to Goodreads, there will be at least two more books in this series.  One is expected out early in 2012 and another early in 2013.  I am excited for the next one for sure!!  Remember, you can always find out more about Kimberly Derting and her book on her website and you can follow her on Twitter.

Desires of the Dead gets 4 Fairies for being so awesome.
