Happy Steampunk Saturday! Today I have information on an author appearance and a great vendor. So, let's jump right into it, shall we?
For those of you who've not read her books, Gail Carriger is the author of The Parasol Protectorate series. I love these books! They were my introduction to steampunk. The Parasol Protectorate series includes the titles: Soulless, Blameless, Changeless and next month Heartless will be released! Here is the blurb for the first book, from Goodreads:
Without a morsel of exaggeration, its publisher describes this debut novel as "a comedy of manners set in Victorian London full of werewolves, vampires, dirigibles, and tea-drinking." At the center ofSoulless's "parasol protectorate" is Miss Alexia Tarabotti, a young woman who lacks not only a suitor but also a soul. And those are not her only problems: When she accidentally kills a vampire, it begins a series of events that she must set out to resolve without the help of any proper authorities. A charming mass market original.
Sounds like fun, right?! Well, for everyone making the journey to ALA American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans, (June 24 - 26, 2011), Ms. Carriger will be found at the following functions: On the Science, Fantasy & Information Science Program Saturday, 4 ~ 5 pm. Speaking at the YA luncheon on Saturday. Signing at the Hachette booth Sunday, 11 am ~ 12 pm. She will also be Signing at Books A Million in Baton Rouge at 3 pm on Sunday June 26, 2011. There is a Facebook events page for this signing event. Make sure you check it out if you're in the area!

The next thing I have for you is an Etsy vendor that I found while looking for steampunkery bookmarks. These are beautiful and both gothic and steampunk. I really like them and I hope you will too! These laminated bookmarks are made from pieces of art. You can find them at This N That Creationz. This one is called "Steampunk Bibliophile." There is another steampunk bookmark called "Mysterious Kingdom." They also have tons of others as well so please check them out!
