Enthralled: Paranormal Diversions

I am so excited to be able to review the Paranormal YA Anthology that was born on the Smart Chicks Kick It Tour! This anthology has tons of my favorite authors in it and it is AWESOME! Here's the Goodreads blurb:

A journey may take hundreds of miles, or it may cover the distance between duty and desire.
Sixteen of today’s hottest writers of paranormal tales weave stories on a common theme of journeying. Authors such as Kelley Armstrong, Rachel Caine, and Melissa Marr return to the beloved worlds of their bestselling series, while others, like Claudia Gray, Kami Garcia, and Margaret Stohl, create new land-scapes and characters. But whether they’re writing about vampires, faeries, angels, or other magical beings, each author explores the strength and resilience of the human heart.
Suspenseful, funny, or romantic, the stories in Enthralled will leave you moved.

Let's work our way through the book, shall we? First up is Giovanni's Farewell by Claudia Gray, a short story about some supernaturally talented siblings. It even has a ghost- really good. Next, Scenic Route by Carrie Ryan. This one is really good too. It involves a zombocolypse but there are no actual zombies in the story- just humans. Third is Red Run by Kami Garcia. WOW. This is a ghost story with a twist. Things About Love by Jackson Pearce comes next. Her short is a side story to her book As You Wish. Then Nederwald by Rachel Vincent is a short about a crazy trip to see some harpies. Not what I'd do on a road trip but a really great short. A Mortal Winter King by Melissa Marr is a short about some fae on a vacation. It is just beautiful. Facing Facts is Kelley Armstrong's short. It features the characters from her YA series including Derek. I love Derek. He has to be one of the top Teen Wolves of all time. Thanks Kelley!!! Let's Get This Undead Show On The Road by Sarah Rees Brennan follows a British boy band with a vampire member as they head out on tour and get closer to one another. Bridge by Jeri Smith-Ready is the story of how Logan Keeley from the Shade series reached out to his twin brother from beyond the grave written like a song. Very moving. Had me in tears! Skin Contact from Kimberly Derting is a short related to her Body Finder books. It shows a bit of Rafe's life story. Really touching. Leaving is Ally Condie's short story about time travel. It is so different from Matched but still so good. At The Late Night, Double Feature Picture Show by Jessica Verday is SO funny. It is like a crazed trip into the world of Supernatual only funnier. She has vampires on their way to see The Rocky Horror Picture Show and cannibal Girl Scouts. Yes, Cannibal Girl Scouts. You can't beat that! Ivy League by Margaret Stohl had me laughing out loud. It follows a pair of southern vampires from the sticks as they apply to a prestigious college... for the meal plan. Gargouille by Mary E. Pearson is a wonderful short that feels like a classic fairy tale. The Third Kind by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is the story of some supernatural sisters on a wild road trip. It was really wicked. Automatic by Rachel Caine was my initiation into the world of the Morganville Vampires and I loved it! I want to read them all now.

All in all this anthology is EPIC. There are not words to describe how much I loved it. It is wonderful to see authors tell us more about old favorite characters and to see new and different worlds from authors we know and love. There is plenty of violence in the book but very little romance. Kissing is really the worst you'll see. This book is a great read for readers over 14.

You can pre-order it now and the anthology will release on September 20th. You can also check out the tour for authors by authors that spawned this book!

Enthralled gets 5 Fairies for being ridiculously amazing.
