Tris and Izzie by Mette Ivie Harrison

I fell in love with this cover from the moment I first saw it at BEA. How could you not?! It's beautiful. This story was one of those books that I read straight through because I've never actually read the story of Tristan and Isolde and I had NO CLUE what was going to happen next. Here's the Goodreads blurb:
A modern retelling of the German fairytale "Tristan and Isolde", Tris and Izzie is about a young witch named Izzie who is dating Mark King, the captain of the basketball team and thinks her life is going swimmingly well. Until -- she makes a love potion for her best friend Brangane and then ends up taking it herself accidentally, and falling in love with Tristan, the new guy at school.

I really enjoyed this book.  It was something new and different and for me, it had a magical quality that made it special.  Neither of the main characters was perfect- they were very realistic and that was nice.  The supporting cast of characters was pretty great too.  Branna and Mark were funny and interesting.  I know there are those people out there who did not like this book but I'm not one of them.  It wasn't a perfect book by any means, it seemed a bit rushed and there maybe could have been a touch more action but overall, it was a beautiful story that had me on the edge of my seat.  This book is perfect for teen readers and adult readers.  There are no scenes that may not be for young readers so advanced middle grades readers could probably tackle this book as well.
You can find out more about Mette Harrison and her works on her website.  You can also check out the official Tris and Izzie website.  You can click here to add Tris and Izzie to your Goodreads!

Tris and Izzie earns 4 Fairies from me for general fun and un-put-down-able-ness.

A lot of my friends didn't enjoy this book at all so I'm a bit wary of it. You make it sounds good, though! :)

This is the FIRST good review I've read of this book! I frankly, really liked the idea but halfway through the book I gave up because I could see where things were going....
but if you say it's not that bad I just might finish it :)

Since this is a new author I'm glad to hear that someone has written a positive review. I read it a few months back and was pretty disappointed. The cover, though, absolutely GORGEOUS.
