The Childe by C. A. Kunz Blog Tour Guest Post: The Childe Playlist With Book Scenes

First of all we’d like to thank Megan for hosting us today on her wonderful blog, Amethyst Daydreams. We hope you all enjoy our playlist, and don’t forget to comment 
Now if you were to ask most authors for a playlist that fit their book, they’d probably be able to list several songs that they feel suit their novels. So, just like most authors, we can think of a few ourselves. Here are several songs that we feel fit perfectly with certain scenes within our novel The Childe:

Ellie Goulding – Lights
- At the end of chapter 1 during Cat’s nightmare. The song plays until she touches down onto the beach in front of the distressed wooden cabin that lies within a barren clearing.
- Song Lyrics:
And I’m not sleeping now, the dark is too hard to beat
And I’m not keeping now, the strength I need to push me

You show the lights that stop me turn to stone
You shine it when I’m alone
And so I tell myself that I’ll be strong
And dreaming when they’re gone

Cee-Lo Green – Bright Lights Bigger City
- In the beginning of Chapter 4 when Cat is getting ready for the carnival up until the point when her, Julie, and Taylor first see the bright lights of the carnival.
- Song Lyrics:
Now Friday’s cool but there’s something about Saturday night
You can’t say what you won’t do ‘cause you know that you just might
I’m alive this evening, it was love at first sight
This Saturday and every Saturday for the rest of my life

And everyone standing in line
Yeah, looking good and looking for a real good time
So I’ll never have to wonder if
I’ll have someone to share all of this with

The Sundays – Wild Horses
- In Chapter 7 during Cat and Ryan’s slow dance at the Homecoming dance.
- Song Lyrics:
I watched you suffer a dull, aching pain
And now you decided just to show me the same
No sweeping exit or offstage lines
Can make me feel bitter or treat you unkind

Wild horses couldn’t drag me away
Wild, wild horses couldn’t drag me away

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will Roll
- Overall feel during the Masquerade dance in Chapter 9.
- Song Lyrics:
Off with your head
Dance ‘til you’re dead
Heads will roll, heads will roll
Heads will roll on the floor

Glitter on the wet streets
Silver over everything
The river’s all wet
You’re all cold

Florence and The Machine – Howl
- In Chapter 10 when Cat is running away from something in the forest back toward the Halloween beach party.
- Song Lyrics:
Now there’s no holding back, I’m making to attack
My blood is singing with your voice, I want to pour it out
The saints can’t help me now, the ropes have been unbound
I hunt for you with bloody feet across the hallowed ground

Florence and The Machine – Dog Days Are Over
- In Chapter 11 when Cat is swimming in the last meet of the state competition and then breaks the state swim record.
- Song Lyrics:
Happiness hit her like a train on a track
Coming towards her stuck still no turning back

The dog days are over
The dog days are done
The horses are comin’ so you better run

Altered Images – Happy Birthday
- In the beginning of chapter 13 when Cat wakes up for her birthday and then realizes that her whole family has forgotten it.
- Song Lyrics:
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Happy birthday, happy birthday
Happy birthday, happy birthday

Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed
- At the end of chapter 16 when Ryan and Cat share their first kiss.
- Song Lyrics:
Next thing, we’re touching
You look at me it’s like you hit me with lightning

Oh, everybody’s starry eyed
And everybody knows
Oh, everybody’s starry eyed
And my body goes

The Sounds – Seven Days a Week
- During Chapter 17 when Cat is sneaking out to meet up with her friends to go see the new Robert Craven movie Darkness Awakes. (Lyrics match Cat and her friends except the line “sleeping with strangers” in the chorus, hahaha!)

- Song Lyrics:
We’ve been talking on the phone for hours and hours
You can give me a call whenever you like to
And if you would fall you know I will catch you
Yeah I’ll stick around, I’ll be right beside you
Who ho ho

Seven Days a week, every minute of the day
Oh who ho, who ho

A Fine Frenzy – You Picked Me
- In Chapter 18 when Ryan stands up for Cat against Isaac and the rest of his group.
- Song Lyrics:
Four, five, six
The two of us, a perfect fit
You’re all mine, all mine
And all I can say
Is you blow me away

Like an apple on a tree
Hiding out behind the leaves
I was difficult to reach
But you picked me

Hello everyone! Yay, we've met our 5 comment quota and that means it's time to reveal the Kindle Fire giveaway question:

This is a two part question - Which song matches Cat and her friends? And what line from that song is not true about them?

We're happy to see that you guys approve of our song choices :D We had a lot of fun putting this post together. Thanks for following along with the tour!

I usually relate a lot of songs I listen to to my books. I listen to A LOT of music and I can't concentrate sometimes if I don't have backround noise so I usually listen to music or have the T.V. going. I couldn't agree more with your choices, I know and love most of these songs!

This is pretty interesting. I've never matched songs up with a book before, but now I see how interesting that can be. Might have to give it a try...
