Thankful Thursdays!
Kathy over at I'm a Reader, Not a Writer has started doing Thankful Thursdays and I think that it is a great idea. It's my goal this year to remember to be positive and thankful no matter how negative the world around me gets. I want to remember to be thankful for what I have.
This week I am thankful for my friends (most of whom, I have never met in person). As a stay at home mom in a town an hour away from where I grew up, I don't have many friends in the area where I live. I have spent the last 5 years at home with our twins and if you have had twins, then you know how how of a life drain it is. I turned to the internet when I needed support and I found it, first on a moms website and now through Facebook and blogging. Without these women, I would not be here today. They helped me through the dark days when I was sleep deprived and losing it. Now they form a support system that is real and important in my daily life.
Case in point this week- I really wanted the variant cover edition of my favorite comic that came out this week. I asked my friends who live in cities across the US to check their local stores for me because my local could not get one of the books because their customer base is too small. My friend Joyce found the comic for me in one of her nearby stores and sent it to me. It may seem like a small thing but it meant so much to me that she would take time out of her day to do me a favor. She also takes the time to occasionally send me my favorite chocolates from the chocolate shop near my hometown. What an amazing friend!
