Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally. This book has two main parts. It begins with Allison looking for Kanin. She's following a strong feeling and meets up with her blood brother. They go looking for Kanin and end up back where it all started. Arriving in New Covington begins the second part of the story. Allison must get Kanin back and stop the new strain of Red Lung before it destroys everything. I loved seeing Allison interact with Kanin again. This time she was on more even footing with him. She had been out on her own and he no longer sees her only as his progeny. He can see who she has become. It was funny to see the banter between Jackal and Allison as well. Jackal lends some brevity to a fraught situation. This second book will leave you shocked, worried and beyond ready for the next book. I loved it.
Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.
