To Bite a Bear (Banded Brothers #4) by Amber Kell

I use Grammarly's plagiarism checker because no one wants to be unoriginal!

I finally bought the fourth and fifth books in Amber Kell's Banded Brothers series.  The books are painfully short but they are my quick, fun go to reads to break up my reading or to get me through a slump after reading something particularly angsty.  Here is the cover and blurb:

Sometimes you need a grand gesture to prove your love, and sometimes a bear hug will do.

Harris Bender had a crush on vampire leader Rohan, so when the alpha male requests him to paint a mural, he can only say yes. However, after a passionate encounter, Harris discovered Rohan is his mate. Is the carefree artist ready to settle down with one man even if he’s extremely hot?

Rohan had been looking for his blood bonded for centuries. One taste of the bear shifter’s blood and he knows he’s found the one. However, outside forces threaten to tear the couple apart. It will take more than a flash of fang to put them in their place.
This book felt a little ... muddled but I still greatly enjoyed it.  It was nice to finally be able to focus on Harris.  He has been in the background of every other story in the series so I enjoyed finally getting more of him.  The introduction of the vampires to the brothers' lives can only lead to further mayhem.  I really would love to see Ms. Kell make the books into actual books and not merely short stories.  They really could be that much better because the worst thing about them is how short they are.  Just when you really get a feel for the characters, it's over.  I would really like to see the books more fleshed out because the story, the world and the characters deserve it.  Harris is just so adorable.  Seriously.  You usually get bear shifters that are big, burly and scary.  Harris is big and a bit furry but he's as sweet and caring as the day is long.  He loves giving hugs and making others happy.  He loves being creative by cooking, painting, drawing and even getting his metalworking on.  He is just a phenomenal guy.  Rohan was interesting but I felt like we needed more about and from him.  Rohan could have been a great character but he fell kind of flat.  All in all though, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to rereading it soon.

You can add the Banded Brothers Series to your Goodreads by clicking here.  You can also find out more about Amber Kell and her writing by checking out her blog.  She can also be found on Twitter.  The fifth book is already out (I will be reviewing it tomorrow) and will be taking the series in a new direction in a spin off series; The Dragons of Seattle.  I give To Bite a Bear 4 Fairies for an adorable story about a sweet bear and the vampire that loves him.
