Catting Around (Kontra's Menagerie #16) by Charlie Richards

I love the Kontra's Menagerie series.  They are just fun and adorable short stories about a group of shifters looking for their one true mates.  When I saw that there were two stories that I didn't have on my kindle yet, I had to get them and read them ASAP!  Here is the first one, Catting Around:

As an orphan, Chip had never really had a home or even much to call his own. After being adopted, he'd hoped he'd found acceptance. Unfortunately, a year later, he shifted into his bobcat for the first time and his new parents had thought him possessed. Forced to run, Chip lived mostly as an animal for decades. Having grown up alone in foster care, it hadn't been much different and he hadn't thought it too bad...until the day he'd been captured and tortured by scientists. Rescued by Kontra and his gang, Chip finally sees the light at the end of the long, lonely tunnel of his life. Scarred, malnourished, and suffering from panic attacks, Chip struggles to get his body and mind back under control. When the gang visits a pride of lion shifters, Chip meets Grimes, who claims they are mates. Can he manage to get past his hang-ups and grab on the happiness Grimes offers him?

I really felt for Chip. Wow. What a change in fortune he has recently experienced! He went from being a test subject to being a free roaming biker. He still has to deal with the aftermath of being held captive- fear of others and panic attacks. Chip also had a horrendous childhood experience as an orphan who later was let down by his adoptive family.  Grimes has his work cut out for him in that his mate has been physically, mentally and emotionally scarred by the life he has led so far and Grimes has to get Chip to trust again.  He also has to help Chip heal.  What a great story!  I just really wanted so much more of it all!

You can click here to find Kontra's Menagerie series on Goodreads. Charlie Richards can be found on her website, Twitter and on Facebook. I give Catting Around 3 Fairies for an adorable story about someone finding love and a new life when they needed it most.
