Sext Based Adventures by Francis Gideon

I love nerd culture and seeing it in books makes me happy so I jumped at the chance to read this book when I got it through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.  Here is the cover and Goodreads blurb:

Chris thought he was done with his gaming days. He'd deleted his account, gone back to his day job, and put his fantasy world days behind him… but couldn't resist the urge to return. This time, however, he decided to play as a woman—a persona he maintains even when he makes friends with Jessica.

When Jessica offers online sex, Chris still cannot bring himself to confess his secret. As their relationship turns serious, still he cannot admit to the ruse. Then Jessica proposes they meet offline, and Chris is finally forced to confront the questions and choices he's been avoiding…

I loved this funny little story about 2 gamers meeting in the World of Warcraft and falling for one another without clear gender understanding. I have always believed that we fall in love with a person, not their gender. You love someone for who they are inside, with their soul or whatever you believe is the essence of someone and not because they are male or female or whatever. Gender is a part of all of us though. I enjoyed that Chris and Jessica could see the attraction beyond messy things like gender and sexuality and preferences. They were willing to open up to each other's needs and wants. I found this story to be a bit short but really cute and nerdy.
