Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble By H.P. Mallory

I read this book in the PDF format having been given a copy from H.P Mallory after entering a giveaway for this book and its sequel. I have to say- this was a great book. I enjoyed every minute of it- even reading it on my laptop screen in the middle of the night. The story grabbed me so quickly that after the second chapter, I knew there would be no sleep for me until I finished this book. Jolie, the main character from whose point of view the story is written, sounds a lot like Betsy from the "Queen Betsy" books. She sounds like every woman and is beyond funny. She says the things that I think I would be thinking in the same situation. The world that Jolie finds herself getting sucked into is pretty unique. She finds that she is really a witch and not the psychic that she believed herself to be. A warlock comes to her for help and shows her how to use the latent power within herself. She is even invited to a party full of vampires and werewolves. Fairies become her tutors in magic later in the book. The world not only has all of these creatures but the "Creatures of the Night" are preparing to go to war with each other and Jolie finds herself in the middle of this rich and scary world. All in all, this was an excellent read and a quick one too. I think it took me a total of four hours to read from beginning to end with all but two chapters being read straight through. I would suggest this book for anyone looking for a new read. There was a smattering of language and adult topics throughout the book so it is an ADULT book for sure.

I've been meaning to read Ms. Mallory's work for some time, I've been hearing nothing but good things about her books.

Great review. Thank you for having my button on your sidebar.
