If I Die (Soul Screamers #5) by Rachel Vincent

I have to be honest, this was my first Soul Screamers book.  I won a copy and was told that it would be fine to jump in here.  So, please forgive me that I haven't read the others yet.  I plan on it and I have 2 of the others waiting for me on my To Be Read shelf.  All that being said, I fell in LOVE with this series and its characters.  Here's the Goodreads blurb:

The entire school's talking about the gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck. Everyone except Kaylee Cavanaugh. After all, Kaylee's no ordinary high-school junior. She's a banshee—she screams when someone dies.

But the next scream might be for Kaylee.

Yeah—it's a shock to her, too. So to distract herself, Kaylee's going to save every girl in school. Because that hot new teacher is really an incubus who feeds on the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend's needy ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck…before he discovers they aren't quite human, either.

But Kaylee's borrowed lifeline is nearing its end. And those who care about her will do anything to save her life.

Anything.
Oh my goodness.  This book had me hooked a chapter or so in.  I'd first really noticed these books when Tod was competing in the YA Sisterhood's Tourney.  Tod was easily my favorite part of this book.  He's one of those book boys that we all desperately wish was real.  He's so sweet and selfless.  The action in this book was non stop and gripping.  I literally COULD NOT put this book down.  I just had to know how it was going to end.  The Soul Screamers series has definitely been added to my must read series list.

You can find out more about the Soul Screamers and Rachel Vincent on her website.  (Note that she does write ADULT as well, so be warned.)  The next Soul Screamers book, Before I Wake, will release in June. You can click here to find the Soul Screamers books on Goodreads.  If I Die earns 5 Fairies for being a unique and epic read with bonus points for Tod.
