The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #1) by Michelle Hodkin

I know, I know.  I'm basically the last human being on Earth to read The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and that fills me with shame.  I finally managed to get my hands on a copy thanks to Kendra from Books Complete Me and once I started reading, I just could not put it down!  Here's the Goodreads blurb:

Seventeen-year-old Mara cannot remember the accident that took the lives of three of her friends but, after moving from Rhode Island to Florida, finding love with Noah, and more deaths, she realizes uncovering something buried in her memory might save her family and her future.
I don't know what I expected from Mara Dyer but this one threw me for a loop.  It's more suspense and intrigue than paranormal.  It's got a beautifully real and complicated love story.  This book doesn't fit any one category.  It reminds me of a classic Agatha Christie book where there is so much going on and so much to try and figure out.  The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is one of the most unique books I've read in a long time.  I really enjoyed the mystery and the suspense of it.  The insecurity that Mara feels as she begins to doubt her sanity.  There's also the developing relationship between Mara and Noah.  Noah and Mara... how they work together is intriguing to say the least.  I loved every moment of this one!  This book has some moments that may be a bit hard for younger readers but older teens and adults should love this book.

You can find out more about Michelle Hodkin and her books, you can find her on her website or on Twitter.  You can also find The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer on Goodreads here.  The second Mara Dyer book, The Evolution of Mara Dyer, will be out on October 23rd of this year- so mark your calendars and get your preorders in.  The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin earns 5 Fairies for being  a wonderfully unique and special read that you just can not put down!

This book was definitely extremely suspenseful and creepy! I really liked this book--it totally kept me on the edge of my sleep, and me sleeping with one eye open. AND THE ENDING! Gosh! I need the sequel like yesterday. :) Awesome review, Megan! <3

No, you're not the last person on earth! I just read Mara Dyer this week. In fact, I stayed up ridiculously late to finish it. It was divine...and I'm not just talking about Noah. ;P
