Shades of Earth (Across the Universe #3) by Beth Revis

I apologize in advance for any flailing and fangirling.  Today is the day!  Shades of Earth releases today!  Yay!  For those of you who don't know, my Book Twin Mindy and I run Secret of the Stars, a Beth Revis and Across the Universe fansite.  Across the Universe was one of the books that we shared in the beginning of my blogging days when we came to realize that we loved the same books and the same book boys.  Thus our book twinship was born.  Seeing this series come to an end is kind of bittersweet for that reason.  But I digress, here is the cover and Goodreads blurb for Shades of Earth.

The final book in the New York Times bestselling trilogy, perfect for fans of Battlestar Galactica and Prometheus!

Amy and Elder have finally left the oppressive walls of the spaceship Godspeed behind. They're ready to start life afresh--to build a home--on Centauri-Earth, the planet that Amy has traveled 25 trillion miles across the universe to experience.

But this new Earth isn't the paradise Amy had been hoping for. There are giant pterodactyl-like birds, purple flowers with mind-numbing toxins, and mysterious, unexplained ruins that hold more secrets than their stone walls first let on. The biggest secret of all? Godspeed's former passengers aren't alone on this planet. And if they're going to stay, they'll have to fight.

Amy and Elder must race to discover who--or what--else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together. They will have to look inward to the very core of what makes them human on this, their most harrowing journey yet. Because if the colony collapses? Then everything they have sacrificed--friends, family, life on Earth--will have been for nothing.

FUELED BY LIES.
RULED BY CHAOS.
ALMOST HOME.
You will need a box of tissues and a punching bag to read this book.  It is a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end.  It will make you nervous, excited, happy, sad and seriously ticked off over the course of this final book.  If you're like me and you love Elder, you are going to love him in this book.  The dual narration is perfect because you get to see what Elder is thinking and what Amy is thinking.  It moves the story forward and drags you kicking and screaming into the story.  This book is so emotional... you can't help but love it.  I really enjoyed this series and I was so glad that Beth wrote it with dual narration.  I've been sharing this series with my husband and it's been great to have a series that both of us can enjoy and discuss.  That is the great thing about it- men and women can both enjoy Shades of Earth and the other books of the Across the Universe series.  I highly recommend this book and if you haven't started the series yet- what are you waiting for!?

You can click here to find the Across the Universe series on Goodreads.  Beth Revis can be found on her website, on Twitter and Facebook.  I give this book 5 Fairies for an epic finale to a wonderful series.
