Abby, 13, is looking forward to watching the moon turn purple, unaware that bacteria from a passing comet will soon kill off older teens and adults. She must help her brother and baby sister survive in this new world, but all the while she has a ticking time bomb inside of her--adolescence.
My Review:
This is a wonderful dystopian free of coarse language and is perfect for Middle Grades readers. I really enjoyed the writing and the flow of the story- not too rushed or too slow. I died a little though as a mom reading about these kids left alone with so much responsibility and fear. I found this to be a very emotional read. Well done and highly recommend!
When the bacteria that killed most of world's adults undergo a deadly mutation, 15-year old Abby must make the journey to Colony East, an enclave of scientists caring for a small group of children for reasons unknown. She fears that time is running short for the victims, but she's soon to learn that time is running out for everyone outside Colony East.
My Review:
Even better than the first! I plan to share these books with my son who reads at a YA level but is too young for all the language and romance. The story has so much suspense, action and adventure. I also found Colony East to be extremely well written. I just loved it! (If I say anything more, spoilers will slip so please go buy this and read it for yourself!)

Scott Cramer has written feature articles for national magazines, covered school committee meetings for a local newspaper, published haiku and poetry, optioned a screenplay, and worked in high-tech marketing communications. His pursuit of a good story has put him behind the stick of an F-18, flying a Navy Blue Angels' fighter jet, and he has trekked through the Peruvian mountains in search of an ancient Quechua festival featuring a condor. Scott and his wife have two daughters and reside outside Lowell, Massachusetts (birthplace of Jack Kerouac) in an empty nest/zoo/suburban farm/art studio with too many surfboards in the garage.

I'm glad you liked both of these! They do work for younger readers but I understand why they are categorized as YA too, they are pretty gritty! Wonderful reviews! And thanks for hosting a tour stop!
This is the first I have heard about this series, but it sounds really good. I'm interested to read them and share them with my sons.
